| The boundaries of the East are drawn between the towns Bakkafiord to the National Park Skaftafell. Towns, villages, places of interest and recreation are mentioned below the map in the Travel Guide. The East is relatively sparsely populated except for the third largest lowland area of the country, Herad. The landscape is mostly mountainous. On both sides of Herad are mountain ranges with narrow strips of lowlands along the bays. |
